Terms of Service
Last updated 27 October 2026
The short version. Use OST to make clips from streams you have the right to use. Your clips stay yours. Don't abuse the service or use it to break the rules of the platforms you post to. We do our best to keep it running but can't promise it never breaks. You can stop using it, and we can close accounts that break these terms. Paid plans start with a 7-day free trial (your first time only), renew monthly or yearly, can be cancelled any time, and your first payment is refunded in full if you ask within 14 days.
1. The agreement
These terms are a contract between you and OpenStreamTools ("OST", "we") for your use of the website at openstreamtools.com and the OST web app. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you use OST on behalf of a team or company, you confirm you may bind them to these terms.
2. Your account
You sign in with a Twitch or Google account and must be at least 16 years old. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to it secure. Team members you invite can see and edit the projects in that team; invite people you trust.
3. Your content
Everything you make with OST is yours. Your video files, your projects, your clips, your captions. We claim no ownership of any of it. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your project data, to transcribe the audio you send for captions, to fetch and transcribe the stream recordings you point us at, and to upload a clip to a social platform when you tell us to.
You are responsible for having the rights to the content you use. Clipping your own stream is fine. Clipping someone else's requires their permission or a right you already have (for example, as a team member editing for that streamer). Don't use OST to make clips that infringe copyright, harass people, or that you have no right to publish.
4. Posting to other platforms
When you connect TikTok, YouTube or Instagram, OST posts to your account only when you press the button, and only the clip you chose. What you post is subject to that platform's own terms and community guidelines; you are responsible for following them. We are not responsible for a platform removing a post, limiting your account, or changing what its API allows. You can disconnect a platform at any time.
5. Acceptable use
Don't:
- use OST to break the law, or the terms of Twitch, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram or any other platform you use it with;
- upload or process content you don't have the rights to;
- try to get around usage limits, share one account between many people, or resell the service;
- probe, scrape, overload or attack the service or its providers;
- use the AI features to generate content that is illegal, or to deceive people about who made it.
We can suspend or close an account that does any of this, after telling you where reasonable.
6. Plans and payment
The plans
Editor is free, with no time limit: the editor, exports, saved projects, and the desktop app with its video downloader (for Twitch, Kick and similar sites; not YouTube, TikTok or Instagram, whose terms don't allow it). Editor+ adds the AI tools and posting to social platforms. Pro adds the AI clip finder on whole streams and inviting up to 3 editors to your team. What each plan includes and costs is on the pricing page; the price you pay is the one shown at checkout, before you confirm. Prices in euros include VAT; in other currencies, any sales tax is added at checkout.
A plan belongs to a team, not to one person. The team's owner subscribes and pays, and everyone in the team gets the plan's features. There is no charge per member.
Free trial
Editor+ and Pro start with a 7-day free trial if you've never had a subscription or a trial with us before, on any account. You add a payment method when the trial starts, but nothing is charged during it. We email you before the trial ends. If you cancel before the end of day 7, you pay nothing; otherwise the subscription starts and the first month is charged when the trial ends. A trial has the same daily limits as the plan itself.
Billing
Subscriptions are monthly or yearly and renew automatically until cancelled. Payments are handled by our payment provider, Stripe; we never see or store your full card details. If a payment fails, we try again over the following days; if it still fails, the team moves back to the free Editor plan. Nothing is deleted: your projects stay, and the paid features come back when you subscribe again.
Switching and cancelling
The team owner can switch between Editor+ and Pro, or cancel, at any time from the billing page in the app. A switch takes effect immediately and is prorated: you're credited for the unused part of the old plan and charged for the rest of the period on the new one. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for; until then, the features stay on.
Refunds and your right of withdrawal
If you live in the EU you have 14 days to withdraw from a contract made online. For OST we keep it simple: if you ask within 14 days of your first payment, we refund that payment in full and end the subscription. Email support@openstreamtools.com. After that, payments already made aren't refunded, but cancelling stops every payment after them. Your rights under consumer law are never limited by this.
Usage limits and price changes
The paid plans have no credits or per-minute meter. To keep the service fair and affordable, daily fair-use limits apply to the AI features (for example, minutes of transcription and clip searches per day); they're set well above normal use, and the app tells you when one is reached and when it resets. If we change the price of a plan you're on, we tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
7. The service
OST is under active development. Features change, and things we say are "planned" or "coming soon" are intentions, not promises. The roadmap shows what actually exists. We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uptime, and we may take it down for maintenance. Video processing happens in your browser, so results depend on your device and browser; local file access works in Chromium-based browsers.
AI features (clip ranking, titles, captions, profanity detection) can be wrong. Check them before you publish. We are not responsible for a clip you post based on an AI suggestion.
8. Your data
How we handle personal data is in the privacy policy. Your video files never leave your computer; what we store is described there.
9. Ending this agreement
You can stop using OST and delete your account at any time from the app. We can end the agreement if you break these terms, or if we discontinue the service. In that case we'll give reasonable notice and you'll be able to export your projects.
10. Liability
OST is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, lost content, or damage caused by platforms or providers we don't control. Our total liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or €50 if you paid nothing. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer under the law that applies to you.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. For material changes we'll notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use OST after that means you accept the new terms; if you don't, stop using the service and delete your account.
12. Law and disputes
The law of the country where OpenStreamTools is established applies, and disputes go to its competent court. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection the law of your own country gives you, including the right to bring the matter before its courts. We'd rather fix things first: email support@openstreamtools.com.
